iOS 27.2: Siri remembers past conversations, five new languages, 163 security fixes – and what of it is available in the EU

On Monday 26 October 2026, Apple released iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2. According to MacRumors' round-up and TidBITS' analysis, the biggest change is that Siri AI remembers earlier conversations and works in five new languages. The update also fixes more than 160 security flaws. This article summarises the new features and what of them is available in the European Union.

Siri's memory

According to MacRumors, Siri AI can now recall past conversations: you can ask about something it said earlier. It can also draw on more personal sources: photos attached in Messages, calendar event attendees, voicemail, Safari history and the Reading List. According to TidBITS, the feature arrives on iOS, iPadOS, macOS and watchOS but not visionOS; Apple Watch gets the data from the paired iPhone.

Neither source opened describes in detail where the memory is stored or how to delete it. This article cannot confirm that.

What "conversation memory" means

A voice assistant traditionally treats each question separately. An assistant with memory also takes earlier exchanges into account, so a topic can be continued. The trade-off is that more personal data gets connected, which is why it matters which apps it can access.

Excluded apps and other new features

According to MacRumors' list:

  • Excluded Apps: a redesigned setting for choosing which apps Siri, Search and suggestions can access.
  • Messages suggestions: tappable shortcuts based on the conversation, such as tracking a package or adding an event to Calendar.
  • Watermarks: Image Playground images and some Photos edits get a SynthID watermark, so they can be identified as machine-made.
  • Multiview: up to four live sports streams at once on iPhone (for some US sports).
  • FaceTime: a third-party sign language interpreter or live captioner can be added.
  • Apple TV: profiles, with child profiles defaulting to a PG rating.

The redesigned Health app, which Apple tested during the beta, is coming later, according to MacRumors.

What is available in the EU

According to MacRumors, Siri AI is still not available in the European Union or mainland China. A user in Hungary, for example, gets the update with its security fixes and the features not tied to Siri AI, but not conversation memory or the new Siri AI languages. The same source says an expanded App Tracking Transparency prompt also appears in the EU, re-asked once a year; it is mandatory in France, Germany, Italy, Poland and Romania.

The security side

According to TidBITS, iOS and iPadOS 27.2 fix 163 vulnerabilities and macOS Golden Gate 27.2 fixes 263. According to MacRumors, none of them is known to have been exploited. Those staying on older systems got fixes too: iOS 26.7.2 fixes 134 and iOS 18.7.11 three, including one already exploited zero-day. The TidBITS author says the security fixes alone justify updating.

A zero-day is a vulnerability that was exploited before the vendor released a fix.

5 things many people don't know

  1. Older iOS versions get fixes too. iOS 18.7.11 patches an exploited flaw.
  2. Siri AI depends on the device. It needs an iPhone 15 Pro or later.
  3. Generated images get labelled. The SynthID watermark is embedded in the image and invisible to the naked eye.
  4. watchOS is not a separate source. The watch gets personal data from the paired iPhone.
  5. App access can be narrowed. The Excluded Apps setting controls what Siri may not touch.

Summary

  • iOS 27.2: Siri memory, five new Siri AI languages, excluded apps, watermarks.
  • EU: Siri AI features are not available; the security fixes are.
  • Security: 163 fixes on iOS, none known to be actively exploited.
  • The update is typically found under Settings → General → Software Update.
