The OLED touchscreen MacBook Pro
According to MacRumors, the new MacBook Pro uses the M5 Pro or M5 Max chip introduced earlier this year. Its display is OLED, and it is the first Mac to accept touch input. According to the round-up, touch did not reduce battery life. The machine is slightly thinner and lighter than the mini-LED version, which stays on sale. Other additions are the Dynamic Island (a strip at the top of the display that changes with content), a glowing Apple logo on the lid, new speakers with deeper bass, and up to 16TB of storage.
Prices rise: OLED models cost $400 more than comparable mini-LED versions, and the most expensive configuration is $14,549.
OLED vs mini-LED: what's the difference
In a mini-LED display, thousands of tiny LEDs behind the pixels act as a backlight, split into zones. In an OLED display, each pixel emits its own light and can switch off completely. That is why OLED black is truly black and contrast can be controlled pixel by pixel. Mini-LED typically reaches higher peak brightness; the two offer different strengths.
The OLED iPad mini
According to the round-up, the 8.5-inch iPad mini gets an A20 Pro chip and an OLED display; it is the second OLED iPad after the iPad Pro. It has no ProMotion (high, variable refresh rate), and nano-texture anti-glare glass is available on some models. The iPad mini is rated IP67: the first water- and dust-resistant iPad. It has a new "acoustic display" speaker design and an adaptive True Tone flash. The 512GB version has an extra CPU core and a dual Neural Engine. Price: from $699, after this year's second price increase; the 35W adapter needed for fast charging is sold separately.
What IP67 means
An IP code is a rating under an international standard. The first digit is protection against dust (6 = dust-tight), the second against water (7 = temporary immersion). IP67 does not mean a device is made for use underwater.
The M6 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac
According to MacRumors, the base 14-inch MacBook Pro and the iMac were updated with the M6 chip. On the MacBook Pro, 170GB/s memory bandwidth is only available in configurations above the 16GB base model. The iMac offers a version with a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port on its power adapter, and its colours are unchanged. The round-up does not give their prices.
Memory bandwidth measures how much data moves between the chip and memory each second; it matters for large files and graphics work.
Other announcements
New Mac chargers and a travel adapter kit arrived; the Mac Studio with M5 Ultra can now be ordered with 512GB of memory ($22,299); and the MacBook Neo's education starting price rose to $649.
What is known about European availability
The source opened gives only dollar prices and does not mention the EU or Hungary. US prices exclude sales tax, so they cannot simply be converted into euros. Local prices and delivery times will be published on the manufacturer's regional sites and by resellers.
