Binance Futures changes the leverage and margin tiers of 16 USDⓈ-M perpetual contracts on 25 September, 06:30 UTC — what the announcement says, and what it leaves to the reader

Binance's announcement of 22 September 2026, 07:00 UTC, schedules new leverage and margin tiers for 16 USDⓈ-M perpetual contracts in four groups, all effective 25 September at 06:30 UTC. The text states that existing positions will be affected and that running grid strategies may expire. It does not say why, or in which direction. We document the announcement and its silences.

Binance Futures changes the leverage and margin tiers of 16 USDⓈ-M perpetual contracts on 25 September, 06:30 UTC — what the announcement says, and what it leaves to the reader

A margin-tier update is the least dramatic document a derivatives exchange publishes and one of the most consequential for the people it applies to. It changes the arithmetic of a position without touching the price of anything. Binance published one this morning; it takes effect on Thursday. This article records what the announcement says, contract by contract, and what a reader has to work out for themselves.

🎧 Audio edition — the full article read aloud, 7 minutes, MP3: binance-margin-tiers-update-2026-09-audio-EN.mp3

The announcement, as dated

The page is titled "Update on the Margin Tiers of USDⓈ-M Perpetual Contracts (2026-09-25)" and carries the line "Published on 2026-09-22 07:00". Binance's announcement times are in UTC, so the document appeared at 09:00 Budapest time. The address is a support-centre announcement, not a blog post; it is the exchange's own record of a parameter change.

The opening paragraph is short: "Binance Futures will update the leverage and margin tiers of the following USDⓈ-M Perpetual Contracts as per the tables below. The update will be completed within approximately one hour."

Two warnings follow, both in the exchange's own emphasis. First: "Existing positions opened before the update will be affected". Second: "Futures running grid might expire due to updates on the leverage and margin tiers, users are advised to adjust accordingly before the change." A third note appears at the end: "Collateral ratio will affect the Unified Maintenance Margin Ratio (uniMMR). Users should monitor uniMMR closely to avoid any potential liquidation or losses that may result from the change of collateral ratio."

The sixteen contracts, in four groups

All four groups share one effective time: 2026-09-25 06:30 UTC, which is 08:30 in Budapest. The groups, as listed:

The first group is COOKIEUSDT, TLMUSDT and EPICUSDT. The second is RAVEUSDT, DODOXUSDT, MOVEUSDT, SOPHUSDT and AVAUSDT. The third is AWEUSDT and ARKUSDT. The fourth is B2USDT, UAIUSDT, VELODROMEUSDT, BLURUSDT, MOVRUSDT and LSKUSDT. That is three, five, two and six contracts: sixteen in total, all USDⓈ-M perpetuals.

For each group the announcement contains a table of the previous and the new leverage and margin tiers. We read the page through a text extraction that returned the structure of those tables but not their cell values, so the numerical tiers — the notional brackets, the maximum leverage per bracket, the maintenance-margin rates — are, for this article, [UNVERIFIED]. We state this plainly rather than reproduce numbers we did not see. A reader who holds any of the sixteen contracts should open the announcement and read the table for that contract directly.

What the announcement does not say

The text gives no reason for the change. It does not say whether the tiers are being tightened or loosened, whether maximum leverage goes up or down, or whether the maintenance-margin rate rises or falls for any bracket. It gives no estimate of how many positions are affected, and it announces no adjustment period beyond the "approximately one hour" in which the update is completed. The warning about grid strategies is stated as a possibility — "might expire" — without saying which parameter causes the expiry.

There is also a translation clause: "There may be discrepancies between this original content in English and any translated versions. Please refer to the original English version for the most accurate information, in case any discrepancies arise." For a document whose entire content is a set of numbers, the clause matters: the English page is the reference, and a reader working from a translated page is working from a copy.

Why a parameter change is worth a page

In the material of the Kripto Akadémia we describe margin tiers as the part of a derivatives contract that most people never read and that decides most liquidations: the price can stay where it is while the maintenance requirement moves, and a position that was safe on Wednesday is not safe on Thursday. An exchange announcement like this one is the only primary source for such a move. It is dated, it names the contracts, and it names the hour. Everything else — why, in which direction, by how much — is in the tables or nowhere.

The habit of reading the announcement before the commentary is what the Uncle Sunny Academy teaches as method, and what the longer studies in The Analyst Room apply to filings and reports. Our own published market data, under Market Observation, is spot data from exchanges with timestamps; we publish no derivatives positions and no leverage of our own, and this article is a reading of a document, not a comment on any contract in it. Earlier notes on exchange notices — including yesterday's on the Korean caution lists — are collected under Research, and the people who read them are introduced on the About page.

Bithumb lifts the trading-caution designation on Injective (INJ), 22 September: deposits resume at 16:00 KST — what the notice says, and what it does not

Bithumb's notice of 22 September 2026, 16:00 KST, removes Injective (INJ) from its trading-caution list and resumes deposits the same day. The notice gives one sentence of reasoning and no history. We put it next to the exchange's 21 September notices on FET, EGLD and ACX, and list what the text leaves out.

61 million dollars in crypto, 1.5 billion in oil money: what the SDNY forfeiture complaint alleges about the Iranian route through Binance accounts — and what it does not

On 14 September 2026 the US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York filed a civil forfeiture complaint for about 61 million dollars in cryptocurrency. The allegation: two Chinese companies converted black-market Iranian oil proceeds into crypto through accounts at Binance, and a web of unhosted wallets moved more than 1.5 billion dollars onward to IRGC-linked services. The mechanism as the complaint describes it, the officials' words, and the caveat that none of it is yet proven. Sourced.
