Bithumb designates FET, EGLD and ACX as trading-caution assets on 21 September; Upbit does the same for EGLD — the reasons as written, the review dates, and what the notices do not say
At 16:00 Korean time on 21 September 2026 Bithumb posted a notice designating Fetch.ai (FET), MultiversX (EGLD) and Across Protocol (ACX) as trading-caution assets. For FET and EGLD the stated reason is an unresolved hacking or security incident; for ACX it is doubt about the reality and continuity of the underlying business. Deposits stop at 16:00; the designation is to be reviewed in the fourth week of October for FET and EGLD and the third week for ACX. Upbit posted an EGLD caution notice the same hour. We quote the notices and mark their limits.
Yesterday we documented Bithumb's 20 September notice on Fetch.ai, which suspended FET deposits and withdrawals after a security incident. Today the exchange moved one step further and widened the list. This article records the 21 September notices from Bithumb and Upbit exactly as they are written — which tokens, which reason for each, which dates — and separates what the exchanges state from what the projects themselves have said.

The Bithumb notice of 21 September
The notice is titled "[거래유의] 페치(FET), 멀티버스엑스(EGLD), 어크로스프로토콜(ACX) 거래유의종목 지정" — in English, "[Trading caution] Designation of Fetch (FET), MultiversX (EGLD), Across Protocol (ACX) as trading-caution assets". It was posted on 21 September 2026 at 16:00:08 Korean time, and opens by stating that the exchange is issuing it under its trading-caution designation policy.
The reasons are given per token. For FET and for EGLD the wording is identical: "가상자산 지갑 또는 가상자산이 발행·전송·저장되는 분산원장 등에 원인이 밝혀지지 않거나 치유되지 않은 해킹 등 보안사고" — our translation: "a hacking or other security incident, the cause of which has not been identified or remedied, in the virtual-asset wallet or in the distributed ledger on which the asset is issued, transferred or stored". For ACX the reason is of a different kind: "가상자산과 관련된 사업의 실재성, 지속가능성 및 실제 진행 현황 … 사실상 불가능" — "the reality, sustainability and actual progress of the business related to the virtual asset … in effect impossible", that is, a judgement that the asset's operation or business plan cannot in practice be carried out.
The schedule in the notice: designation date 21 September 2026 (Monday); deposits stopped from 16:00 the same day; FET withdrawal service scheduled to resume; a notice on extension or lifting of the designation in the fourth week of October for FET and EGLD, and in the third week of October for ACX. The notice states that the designation can be lifted when the reason for it is resolved.
The Bithumb notice of 20 September
The 21 September designation builds on the notice we covered yesterday. That one, titled "페치(FET) 유의촉구 안내" and posted on 20 September 2026 at 15:10:32, stated: "페치(FET)와 관련된 보안 사고 발생 정황을 확인했습니다" — "We have confirmed the circumstances of a security incident related to Fetch (FET)" — and: "이로 인해 페치(FET) 시세 변동성 증대가 우려되어 페치(FET)에 대한 투자에 각별히 유의해 주시기를 바랍니다" — "As increased price volatility of FET is a concern as a result, we ask you to take particular care with investment in FET." Deposits and withdrawals were suspended then. Today's notice turns the "caution request" into a formal designation with a review date.
Upbit, the same hour
Upbit, the other large Korean exchange, posted a notice at the same time with the title "멀티버스엑스(EGLD) 거래 유의 종목 지정 안내" — "Notice of designation of MultiversX (EGLD) as a trading-caution asset". We could not open the Upbit notice page itself for this article, so we record only its title and time, which we read from the news feed that lists exchange notices; its reasoning and review date are not quoted here because we did not read them.
What the projects have said
The exchanges' reasons for FET and EGLD refer to a security incident. For MultiversX, the project's own position is available only at second hand for this article. PANews, in a piece published on 20 September 2026 at 00:56 UTC under the headline "MultiversX: Mainnet Hit by Hacker Attack, Network Suspended", paraphrases the network's announcement: that an attacker attempted to exploit an atomicity issue at the mainnet virtual-machine level, causing invalid state changes on-chain; that the engineering team has prepared a fix and is validating it in a shadow-fork environment; that a targeted recovery plan is being evaluated to preserve finalised transaction history and legitimate user state; and that users are advised not to submit or rebroadcast transactions and not to deposit or withdraw EGLD or ESDT tokens through exchanges or bridges. We did not read the original MultiversX post; the paraphrase is PANews's, and the time of the halt is not given in it.
For Fetch.ai, the incident and the on-chain traces were the subject of yesterday's article, linked above. For Across Protocol we found no statement from the project in the last 48 hours responding to the "business reality" reason; that absence is itself a fact of the record today, and may change.
What the notices do not say
A trading-caution designation is a label an exchange attaches to a listing. It is not a delisting, and the Bithumb notice is explicit that the label can be removed when its cause is resolved. The notice does not state a delisting criterion, a price, a volume, or an assessment of the projects' prospects beyond the one-line reasons quoted above. Whether the designations are extended or lifted in October is a decision the notice reserves for a future notice.
Nor do the notices say anything about the tokens' prices, and neither do we. Readers who want the live, sourced market data for these or any other assets will find them on the Market Observation page; this article is about the documents, not the chart. How an exchange notice fits into a full incident timeline — first the on-chain trace, then the exchange response, then the project statement — is a case pattern we walk through in The Analyst Room, and the habit of reading the notice before the headline is the first lesson of the Crypto Academy. The team that reads these documents is described on the About page.
